One of Geurink's secrets for success is that he structures all hunts as group departures, and then has each group escorted by someone who speaks Russian and really knows the ropes. Additionally, Geurink works closely with Dimitri Sikorski, a Ukrainian hunt impresario who is as competent and professional as anyone in the business in the former USSR.
In terms of volume, Geurink is now among the largest outfitters for brown bear in the world. He had 28 hunters on his Kamchatka spring hunts this year, and all 28 filled out. Several bears squared over 10 feet, and many squared over nine. As far as scores go, a number of skulls green-scored at 26 14/16, 27 4/16, 27 8/16, 27 11/16, 28 5/16, and 28 8/16. One green-scored over 29 but couldn't be entered because the hunter inadvertently cracked the skull. Outside of Kamchatka, in the interior of Siberia, Geurink has another 30 hunters booked on various hunts this fall for coastal brown bears and grizzlies. In all, his hunters will shoot over 60 bears this year.
His spring hunts in Kamchatka for next year will be conducted April 21 - 28; April 28 - May 2; and May 5 - 12. Hunters stay in large cabins or tents with comfortable beds,........(continued)
