Following are the texts of two letters copied to The Hunting Report regarding a round trip flight to Chad in December of 2000.
"On a recent trip to the African country of Chad, I had the `luxury' of flying both Continental and Air France airlines. On my trip over, from San Antonio to Houston, Houston to Paris, and Paris to Ndjamena, there were no major problems. However, on my return flight leaving Ndjamena, I encountered a case of such intolerable rudeness and utter contempt for the customer that I was forced to bring some action against both your airlines.
For my 12:40 am return flight I arrived at the airport in Ndjamena at 7:30 pm. After waiting in line for 2.5 hours, I was told by the lady attendant that the flight was full. I stated to her that I had reconfirmed my business class seat three days prior, as stated in the itinerary, and that they had confirmed my seat in business class at that time. The very rude and inefficient lady stubbornly maintained that the plane was full, and that I had no seat. I reiterated that I had paid $8,000 US for this business class ticket to assure against such an event, and that if anyone was going to be taken off of the flight, it would be an economy class passenger, not a business class passenger. She remained impassive, at which point I demanded to speak to her supervisor. This man proved equally as brusque and adamantly maintained that the flight was full, and that I was not going to get a seat. He was not interested in the fact that I had reconfirmed, as I was supposed to, or that I held a business class reservation, for which priority should obviously be given. Resigned to my fate, I inquired as to the next flight to Paris. I was told that there was a December 24th flight, but that flight was full also. When........(continued)
