Yates reports taking two boars with nine-inch tusks, and says he saw boars every night he hunted. He took his first trophy, a silver medal boar, within the first hour of hunting his first night.
Yates recommends the trip to fellow subscribers, writing, "Bring your spouse. This is a trip where you score major points that you can use later when booking a solo hunt."
He gives the cost of the trip for two people as $8,600, including the hunting and trophy fees.
(Postscript: We were so intrigued by this trip that we visited Shikar's web site to learn more about the opportunity. Turns out they offer one-week and two-week trips from May through October, with the warmest weather in July and August. Clients fly into Antalya, where they spend the night at what Yates told us was a very nice hotel. Hunters can begin stalking game that very night. The next day guests can begin exploring the ancient world with a trip to the Antalya Archeological Museum, featuring artifacts that range from the Paleolithic era to the Ottoman times. Other stops along the way include the ancient metropolis of Perge, the Phonecian port town of Phaselis, a medieval castle, the Biblical city of Ephesus, and the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Museum in Istanbul.
We have to agree with Yates - this appears to be a real spouse-pleaser of a trip. Check it out!)
