Eco-Africa is more than a booking agency. It was formed with the assistance of most of the leading organizations in the field of hunting, game ranching and nature conservation in South Africa. Directors of the company consist of people such as the Presidents of South African Game Ranchers and the South African Hunters Organizations, a former Director of Nature Conservation and a winner of the prestigious Musgrave hunting award. It is managed by one of the country's leading women hunters. What we do, with the assistance of experts, is find ways and means to dispose of the excess wild animals on South Africa's game ranches at economic prices to both the hunters and the ranchers.
South Africa has more than 9,000 privately owned game ranches. All are not equipped to cater for overseas hunters. Unfortunately, hungry PH's manage to attract hunters to these sub-standard properties by selling hunts at impossibly low prices. Many of these hunts turn out to have negative consequences for the hunters and, unfortunately, also for the image of South Africa. Eco Africa, with its intimate knowledge and contacts in the game industry, does not book hunts on such properties.
Still, we are able to offer very inexpensive hunts, as witness the one Tom Bulloch enjoyed with us. He is absolutely correct in saying that he was charged an average daily rate of $100 for his particular hunt on the ranches he visited. We promised him a good hunt, and that is what he got. He didn't specify record book animals, although, amongst the animals he shot were an excellent black wildebeest and black springbuck, both of which will certainly make the Safari Club International Record Book.
