The big cliff-hanger at press time is the uncertain fate of all the country's hunting areas. As we have reported before, every hunting area in the country is being reallocated this winter. The area shuffle comes at the same time a new quasi-political entity called Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) is taking over all game-related matters in the country. Will the reallocation put hunting areas in strong, ethical hands? Will a plan to reduce poaching and the blight of Special Licenses be created? The future of Zambian hunting is very much up in the air.
Here at The Hunting Report, we are cautiously optimistic that Zambia is about to get organized for a period of improved hunting. Stay tuned.
