Urial, Ibex and Gazelle: I hunted in two different areas near the town of Esfarayen in the Koppeh Dagh Mountains. I reached this town in 12 hours by car. I made camp in the first area at 7,840 feet and hunted up to just over 9,840 feet. In this area I was allowed to hunt urial only. In three days I saw something like 400 urials, but not one ram was as much as six years old! The best ram was one of four years that I missed at over 300 yards. All the game was in good condition but very spooky. I was told that the big rams come down from the high mountains in December and that was the reason I did not find mature rams.
In the second area I was allowed to hunt urial, gazelle and ibex. Again, I saw a lot of urials (at least 100 in a single day), but no mature rams. I did get a good gazelle (I saw at least 200) but I did not see a single ibex. In this area I also saw a very big wild boar, but I did not have a permit for this area. I also saw and managed to film a leopard at very close range.
