New BC Wilderness AreaPublished: November - 1997 In British Columbia, there is some very good news indeed. Seems this province has decided to protect an area in the Northern Rockies the size of Switzerland from future developments such as mines and logging. The whole thrust of the decision is to preserve the wilderness quality of some 2.5 million acres that are collectively known as the Muskwa/Ketchica Wilderness Area. The area has all kinds of hunting available, but it is particularly important for its stone sheep hunting, which is among the best in British Columbia. Several outfitters already conduct hunts in this area, mainly with horses, and they will certainly benefit. They include Garry Vince of Muskwa Safaris Ltd.; Mike Hammett of Sikanni River Outfitters; Dave Wiens of Stone Mountain Safaris Ltd.; and Ross Peck of Ross Peck Outfitters Ltd. Overall, this helps insure a very positive future for outfitting in northern British Columbia.
