We just received our first subscriber report on a good elephant taken this season in Botswana. The report is from subscriber Boyd Deel, who says his jumbo was weighed in the field at 78 x 62 pounds. He says he took the elephant "east of Chobe" through a company called Panda Safaris in California with the help of PH's Robert Ramajaga and Campbell Smith. Botswana Safari Operator, Allistair McFarlane, is listed on the report as the in-country contact. Deel reports seeing "...a lot of bulls over 50 pounds, probably as many as 15 to 20 in the three days I actually hunted." He recommends the hunt, giving the cost of it as $35,000. Continuing subscribers know Botswana recently reopened to elephant hunting, and is currently the hottest jumbo country in Africa. Subscribers returning from this country are urged to file reports as soon as they get home.
