Caracal Hunts In South AfricaPublished: July - 1998 We are indebted to subscriber Robert Karbowski for word of a South African PH who hunts small African cats called caracals with hounds. He writes: "This past May I met a young man in South Africa named Jeff Ford who is having excellent success in using hounds to track and tree caracals the same way we hunt cougars, bobcats, etc. in North America. Being an old hound man myself, it sure brought back memories to me. What a joy to the ears to hear the hounds on trail and to hear the crescendo increase as the track became hotter, followed by the treeing. I collected a beautiful caracal as a bonus.
