A notable jumbo we have heard about is a 68-pounder taken in Botswana this past May by subscriber Jorge del Rosal. He was hunting in the Okavango with Bird Safaris when he spotted the big jumbo.... Botswana, of course, is all the rage right now among jumbo hunters who are still excited about this country's reopening of elephant hunting. A new wrinkle this year may be developing, however. Seems parts of the Chobe District, where some of this country's best elephants have been taken, are bone-dry this year and almost devoid of elephants. The problem is not region-wide, mind you, and some safari operators have nipped what would otherwise have been a major problem in the bud by drilling bores holes. Others haven't. A word to the wise about this should be sufficient.
