Sheep Hunt In AlbertaPublished: December - 1998 Remember that Alberta bighorn auction tag that sold for a record $405,000 at the 1998 Foundation for North American Wild Sheep (FNAWS) convention? Well, the man who bought it, Hunting Report subscriber Sherwin Scott, has just gone home empty-handed after hunting for 17 days in the Cadoman area on the border of Jasper National Park. We have that from his outfitter, Randy Babala, who says he showed Scott a ram on the fifth or sixth day of the hunt that would have scored over 200 points. He says Scott turned it down. A ram that big would rival the current world record but, Babala admits, would not have beaten it - which is presumably why Scott turned it down. At press time, we were not able to reach Scott to confirm this. Is there a new world record ram in the Cadoman area? Babala thinks there is and apparently so did Scott. It's anyone's guess what this general knowledge is going to do to the bidding for this year's Alberta bighorn auction tag. Stay tuned for an update....
