The problem in northern Namibia stems from the internal struggle in Angola between government forces and UNITA rebels. Our report last month summarized what is at issue. What we didn't mention was the fact that a secessionist group from Zambia has also stirred up trouble in the area. If all that were not enough, there is a lot of simple banditry in the area now. As bad as all this sounds, the problems in the north should not give anyone pause at this point about booking a hunt elsewhere in Namibia. Some 95 percent of Namibia is completely calm and safe. We do not hesitate recommending a hunt there, so long as booked clients keep an eye on developing world events.
