This opportunity is the result of a great conservation success story. Bighorn sheep from Isla Tiburon were introduced to the area starting in 2000 and a self-sustaining sheep herd has been established. Livestock grazing has been greatly curtailed in the area and wildlife has priority. Given the genetics of this herd as well as the lack of competition from livestock, the successful bidder can expect to see some very good heads on this hunt.
Some other considerations: this is one of the safest sections of the entire border. There are no roads that cross the international border within the Maderas del Carmen, so drug trafficking is minimal. Poaching is also very limited, since there are few settlements within the biosphere reserve and a significant effort has been made to limit access. The result of all this effort is a safe border zone in which wildlife abounds. I've personally worked south of the Maderas del Carmen and found the country the way I imagine it at the turn of the last century - wild and unspoiled.
