Only 10 days after Anderson took his trophy, client Christian Brendel shot what should be the new world record East African sitatunga, with a green-measurement of 31.5 inches in length and eight-inch bases. Then, only a few weeks later, Hunting Report subscriber Mark Hampton took what should be two new records for the handgun category of the SCI record book. Again, the species were East African sitatunga and Nile bushbuck. He also took a fabulous Jackson hartebeest.
Hampton was still in Uganda when I received photos with the news from Weth, but I should have more details on his hunt as well as Anderson's for next month's report. In the meantime, you can see photos of the three potential world record trophies in our online Trophy Gallery.
Weth is represented in North America by Ken Wilson and Lad Shunneson of Shunneson & Wilson Adventures (firstname.lastname@example.org; www.shunnesonwilson.com). They booked Hampton's hunt. Wilson says that Weth has donated a sitatunga safari for the next Weatherby Foundation banquet and also will be joining the Shunneson & Wilson booth at the hunting shows next season.
