He claims his PH Patrick Mnahela laughed at the idea of a 50-pound elephant and said that he had never seen a Harvey red duiker there. Wooley says Mnahela was lazy and unimaginative in his hunting style, never leaving the hunting vehicle other than to stalk elephant and sable. "He just wanted to ride around in the truck," Wooley told The Hunting Report. "When I asked how else we could hunt the duiker and suni, he said we could walk through the forest areas or do this or that, but we never did."
Wooley was also unhappy with the additional parties in camp during his safari, saying they ran into them in the field "not infrequently." Additionally, he complains that it took Gellini five months to return the difference on a sizeable deposit for the trophies he did not take.
We received rebuttal statements from both Gellini and Ken Wilson of Shunneson & Wilson, who recently took over as booking agent for Gellini. Wilson says several clients have succeeded taking Harvey red duiker in Kilwa with PH JD Andrews, and he sent us photos to prove it. He claims Andrews has seen more than 50 of these animals in Kilwa over six seasons. In his own very detailed rebuttal, Gellini repeats what Wilson says about the Harvey red duiker and states Mnahela denies saying he had never seen one of these animals.
