Remember that mixed report we published on Tyler Sims Outfitting in Wyoming? You'll recall subscriber George Miller was unhappy with a prairie dog shoot handled by Sims' company, but several nonsubscribers had filed positive reports on Sims' big game hunts. At the time of our report, we asked if any other Hunting Report subscribers had any experience with this operator. Enter subscriber David Hollingsworth, who hunted with Sims in October 2011 and again in 2012. He killed antelope each year, describing the trophy quality as "fair for the area." He also took a 168¾ mule deer this season. Hollingsworth hunted elk too but did not take one. "Saw a nice 5 x 5 first morning, but before shooting time," he says. Later he saw only some cows and a small bull. He notes unusually warm weather and winds of 3045 mph. Also, he says drought and cattle grazing have affected the quality of the forage on the property.
Hollingsworth gives Sims an excellent rating and says, "They are hard working professionals." In an additional note he attached to his report, he says that, in his opinion, the reason we received so many positive responses to the one negative prairie dog hunt is "the way you are treated. They make you feel at home." Contact information for Tyler Sims Outfitting is 307-760-5596 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
