We began looking into Coy's situation when we received an email in July from long-time subscriber Bernie Sippin, who said, in part: "I had recommended B. Joe Coy to four hunting friends of mine. B. Joe took their deposits, a total of $9,000, and now is giving them a whole lot of B.S. but not sending them back their money. He lost his Wyoming guide and outfitter licenses because of violations he committed, and cannot take the hunters on the hunt. I am under the impression that other hunters were also taken advantage of by him. I would hope you could make other subscribers aware of this problem."
In a later email, Sippin told us: "I have taken a number of hunters with me on hunts with B. Joe Coy in the past with no problems. This hunt was for deer and antelope, to take place out of Casper, Wyoming, October 13-19, 2012. All four of the hunters sent their deposits on or about March 15, 2012 directly to Coy, per instructions from him to me. He was well aware of the relationship I have with my clients, and in this case, was rushing us on. He was adamant on the deposits coming to him as soon as possible and even called up each of the hunters to get all the information from them to fill out their licenses."
