On his most recent hunt with Jones's outfit in August and early September 2011 in the western part of the Alaska Range, Simonton reports taking an exceptional ram. Personal guide Jason Vogel, who has guided for R&R for nine years, put Simonton on a 10.5-year-old ram, with horns measuring 43 x 41 x 14¼-inches.
As Simonton tells us, "Obviously, since I have been hunting with R&R for so many years and on so many different hunts, I will give them a great recommendation. In fact, I have recommended them to a number of other hunters over the years, and all of the clients I've sent have also had very successful and enjoyable hunts. My hunting companion on this trip also took a very nice 10.5-year-old sheep with broomed 39-inch horns and 14-inch bases.
