This license allows the hunter to participate in any open moose season in Colorado, starting September 8-23, 2012 with archery or legal muzzleloader. From September 24 until December 31, 2012, the license holder can hunt any open zone by any legal method. All other Colorado moose licenses are zone-limited and are awarded by draw. In 2011, over 15,000 hunters applied for 84 bull moose and 88 cow moose licenses.
All proceeds from the auction are used for conservation. Seventy-five percent of the proceeds go to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for research, management and education, with 25 percent of the proceeds retained by Ducks Unlimited. The moose license will be sold during the event's live auction and phone-in bidders are encouraged.
