In addition to the Public Waters Harvest, Florida also offers "Special Opportunity Alligator Hunts," which allow participants who draw a controlled-hunt permit to take one alligator on a designated wildlife or fish management area from which alligators have not been harvested, or have only been lightly harvested, in the recent past. The Commission issued a total of 21 permits for these hunts last year. Call the Alligator Management Section for harvest information and an application, which must be received by June 15. You may submit as many applications as you wish, but each application requires a $5 fee. Successful applicants must purchase an alligator trapping license as described above.
