The two subscribers who filed glowing reports on hunts with Jack Hume Adventures (877-563-3832; www.jackhumeadventures.com) let us know that our brief excerpts simply had not done justice to Hume's outfit. So, we are publishing those reports now. Subscriber Eric Stevens, who hunted the Leaf River Herd with Hume in mid-September, hit the migration at its peak. "We saw 2,000 caribou in three days of hunting," he says. "Lots of large bulls. Also about two-thirds of all cows had calves with them! "The quality of Hume's outfit, the condition of the camp, and the meals were all excellent, the guides, equipment and trophy care were all good. Richard Hume worked VERY HARD for all his hunters! The only problem we faced was that bad weather kept us in camp for 1½ days. Then bad weather kept us from getting out of camp for an extra day; communication regarding whether we'd be flying or not wasn't so great.
"Unlike other outfitters, who had miserable success, because they went to their home camps and did not move hunters, Hume scouted out the herds before, and flew us into camps nearby. All of Hume's hunters during our week tagged out. Same for the week before.
"Richard Hume did an excellent job for us!! In one week, our two camps saw a total of 7,000 caribou. Hume knew where the caribou were moving and put us into those camps. This was the mark of an excellent businessman! Overall high........(continued)
