Kelsey writes, "Some very high-profile hunters have perhaps given the wrong impression about hunting royal antelope and other duikers in Ghana. They have flatly stated that these animals are nocturnal and can only be hunted at night. They are nocturnal, but it is possible to hunt them during the day. "I did not want to shoot at night with lights, even though it is entirely legal. Kobrine did an excellent job organizing the beaters from various villages for me. It was very exciting sitting in the thick jungle, listening to beaters that I couldn't see and having a royal explode out of the jungle right in front of me. It took some perseverance and a bit of luck, but I shot not one but two royals in broad daylight. I also spotted and stalked a Maxwell. I missed a beautiful, very big black duiker at 25 yards when it appeared at the edge of a little opening. He jumped just as the shotgun went off. Had I used a double or repeater, I could have shot him, as he hopped across the clearing while I fumbled for another shell. Hunting Ghana in the daytime is very possible; if I can do it, anybody can! "This is a unique experience. I've hunted with only one other PH who came close to Kobrine's enthusiasm for the wildlife, conservation and hunting. If you want a different African experience, I cannot recommend this trip highly enough."........(continued)
