There's a new company just ramping up to focus on big game hunting in Europe. It is called Hunt Europe, and will be based in Skopje, Macedonia, but will conduct hunts throughout the European sub-continent, including, eventually, the European part of Russia. We were informed of this new operation by Bob Kern of The Hunting Consortium, who will be the exclusive agent for Hunt Europe. The principals of this new company are Anton "Tony" Tonchev, who was Kern's Director of Operations in Europe, and Saso Ivanov, formerly of Macedonia Safaris. These are familiar names to Hunting Report subscribers who saw Ed Yates' report (Hunt Report ID 7698) on hunting wolves and kri-kri ibex, and Hunt Report ID 8020 from Dave Stenger, MD, on hunting ibex, mouflon, fallow deer and wolves. Tonchev has guided Craig Boddington and has been featured in his stories; Sasov has been featured on Jim Shockey's The Professionals TV series. Kern tells us that these two are also involved in the new Tikves Lake Game Reserve, which will be open to the public next year in Macedonia. Hunt Europe will offer this new destination, exclusively, providing a wide variety of continental game species and some exotics all in a natural and fair chase setting. This upscale facility, which has a comfortable lodge on the shores of Tikves Lake, will also serve as a base for many other Macedonian hunts. Native species include red deer, fallow deer, mouflon sheep and wild boar. Exotics will include kri-kri ibex, tahr and aoudad sheep. Beginning this hunting season, Hunt Europe will offer big game hunts, as well as limited bird shooting. The countries in which the company will conduct hunts this season include: Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The company hopes to offer the Czech Republic and Bulgaria toward the end of this hunting season. In the future they are aiming to add development in Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia.
