Pakistan Delays Hunting Trophy ExportsPublished: September - 2011 There is huge delay in exporting hunting trophies from Pakistan this season. Anchan Mirza of Karakurum Treks & Tours (http://www.karakurum-hunting.com/) tells us, "Trophies pending export by the National Council for Conservation of Wildlife have been delayed, as the council along with the Ministry of Environment have not been functioning for several weeks. It seems the responsibility is being transferred to a lower office. Therefore, at present, there is no office dealing with export matters, and as a result many trophies have been delayed for export. We are hoping that this office will function as before in the near future; however, no guidance on the time frame for this can be given. During the transition, we can expect delays processing exports and possible policy changes. Hopefully this should not affect any hunting. Quotas for this season are unchanged."
