Macpherson is offering seven-day packages, focused on crocodile and hippo, with hunts for the other species proceeding elsewhere as an add-on only if there is time left over.
While Cluny Hunting Safaris is allowed to hunt anywhere in Malawi outside of protected areas, Macpherson prefers to hunt the Lower Shire Valley in the south where the Lower Shire River forms the outlet to Lake Malawi and the southernmost tip of the Rift Valley.
Macpherson says quite plainly that this hunt is strictly for the adventurer focused on the hunt experience. Camps are "light fly camps." Transportation on the water is in small inflatable boats with outboard engines. Also, do not go to Malawi expecting to take super trophies. Macpherson says to expect crocs of 10 to 12 feet and otherwise "representative" animals. "Our emphasis is on the experience of fair chase hunting under challenging conditions," says Macpherson.
