"Hawk hunted many years before he shot his first sheep in 1974, and completed his own Grand Slam (#288) in 1980. He had actually taken five sheep by then, including two desert rams. Hawk helped numerous other sheep hunters as a volunteer on their hunts before starting his own outfitting and guiding business in 1987. His reputation for success soon brought him into contact with most of the "Who's Who" in hunting. He was involved with helping countless hunters - arranging hunts, obtaining tags, or in some cases, actually outfitting and guiding. In fact it's no exaggeration to say that Hawk has guided for as many Governor or raffle tag winners as anyone, and personally guided many to top-ranking trophies!
