There are a couple of other operations in this region, and I have hunted with them. Not to detract from them, but I think La Greca is tops. He lives in the region and previously worked with one of the other operators, so he has the experience and knowledge of the area. He also runs a smaller, more personalized hunting service. He takes no more than 20 hunters per season with only six hunters in camp at a time.
La Greca's concession encompasses 3,000-square miles of transition area between boreal forest and agricultural country. This area, called the Peace Region, has produced 200-class whitetails in the past. It is exceptional deer country with an extended season that allows you to hunt during the rut in November, when the snow and lack of feed drives the deer from the bush and high country. La Greca uses trail cams and moveable blinds and stands. He has the ability to move hunters easily if a big buck suddenly appears in another area. Blinds have a heater and a comfortable camp chair. La Greca drives hunters to their blinds before light. Most stay out until dark.
