The camps are mobile but typical East Africa camps with ensuite baths, hot showers and flushing toilets. He moves the camp for each hunt depending on the animals the client is hunting. Barnard says he has been hunting this area for 17 years. Although Sapi and Nyaka- sanga aren't the place for much plains game, he says he has access to 20,000 acres elsewhere that he takes clients for a couple of days of plains game hunting before heading to the valley. When I asked what quality game one could expect in Sapi and Nyakasanga, he said elephant range 40 to 50 pounds and good buffalo are 37 to 40 inches. He indicated leopards in this area are quite good and emphasized that he hunts over baits during the day only and without the aid of artificial lights. Between hunting, he says there is excellent tiger fishing.
