"He expressed some frustration that a hunter would second guess his guide with such a large bear. I told Krueger not to worry, I trusted his judgment completely. Krueger had been checking the spot where they had seen the bear, but it had not returned. We decided it probably did not move too far; so, we went to a spot a couple miles away where a large amount of fish had gathered.
"The first night this bear stepped out. I did not have to wait for Tom or his son, Mark, to look him over. He was huge, so tall it made him look short. I do not play the inch game, as I think it diminishes the hunt, but this bear was in the upper nine's if not 10 feet. (See photo in our online Trophy Snapshots.) It took the three of us almost an hour to move him 15 feet to photo and skin him. The hide weighed 150 pounds-plus. Was it the same bear that Mr. Molander let go? Maybe.
"As for Mr. Molander's concern that the area is over hunted, he is way off base. I have hunted and flown over the area enough times to know that the area is crawling with bears. Not every one is nine feet........(continued)
