Hunter Reports On Those Botswana Elephant Hunts In CH8Published: October - 2010 In Botswana, I've heard from a subscriber who just hunted elephant in CH8. You'll recall I told you last month that a lawsuit had been filed over the lease on CH8 by the previous concession holder, Akuna Mathata (Jack Andrews). Fortunately, this will not affect the group of operators that jointly acquired the lease for CH8 this past summer from the Paleka Community Trust, which controls the area. Subscriber Brad Miller says he can vouch for that, having just returned from there. He hunted with Greg Butler Safaris, booking agent Jeff Neal and reports seeing up to 50 elephant bulls in only three days of hunting CH8. After several stalks the first two days of his hunt, Miller says they dogged three bulls on day three that were joined at different points by another group of three and then a group of seven. "This is where Greg showed his skills," says Miller, "keeping on the original three bulls, evaluating the other bulls without getting busted by either group and finally getting us into position to take the bull we agreed on without getting in the middle of a stampede once I took the shot."
