None of that sat well with subscriber James Helinger, Jr., who wrote us the following note: "I just read the report about the illegal ram shot by a bow hunter while being guided by Terry Sandmeier of Geneva Park Outfitters. I was appalled. At first, I assumed the hunter had jumped out and shot the ram with a rifle before the guide could do anything about it. However, bow hunting is an entirely different matter. The story that the client could jump out and shoot the ram with a bow before the guide could do anything about it is totally implausible. As for Sandmeier trying to clear himself, I wouldn't hire him if he was the last guide in Colorado. I was really sickened by this report and Sandmeier trying to portray himself as an innocent victim."
Apparently Colorado Administrative Law Judge Robert N. Spencer and Director of the Division of Registrations Rosemary McCool both agree with Helinger. After reviewing the evidence for Counts II and III of the charges, Sandmeier's registration with the Colorado Office of Outfitters Registration was revoked as of April 29, 2010.
According to the Final Agency Order, Sandmeier lied to the Colorado wildlife officer who came to investigate the illegal shooting of the ram. "The Respondent initially said that........(continued)
