I initially received the report on Bruce's Nile buff from subscriber Cliff Tulpa, of the television show Wild Outdoor Adventures. He e-mailed the news to me while still in the bush with Bruce. Tulpa had filmed the hunt and was on his way with Bruce to chase sitatunga when he contacted me. You can read Tulpa's complete report under Website Uploads on our homepage.
Bruce also filed a report through our web site and says the Nile buffalo wasn't the only potential bowhunted world record he took on this trip. He says he also took a Nile bushbuck, East African bush duiker and a Ugandan kob that should all be the first submitted to the SCI Record Book for the archery category.
I've reported several times about the success Martin and Kobrine have had opening concessions for international hunting in Uganda. Just this past August I told you that they were conducting the very first hunts for Sesse Island sitatunga in 30 years. Bruce also tried this hunt, but struck out on sitatunga. He says the Sesse Islands hunt still needs work, and that it was very tough hunting with a bow. However, he says he would have had his sitatunga by the fifth or sixth day of the hunt had he been hunting with a rifle instead.
