Texas: Most of the guided alligator hunts in Texas are with individual landowners who receive tags from the state, to use as they wish, based on total water acreage. All clients need to do is acquire a $300 alligator license and make arrangements for the hunt through the landowner. All hunts take place during the September 10 to 30 season. The landowner with the most tags last year was Donald Broussard), who has land in Jefferson County, located in southeasternmost Texas. He was issued 100 tags, most of which he sold as part of a guided hunt. His trophy hunts last until the client takes an alligator, which usually happens in a couple of days. He has been conducting hunts since alligator hunting in Texas opened in 1984, and has a 100 percent success rate on trophy hunts.
