Pretzer goes on to say that he was very happy with his safari despite the incident. He reports taking an eland, roan, buffalo, yellow-backed duiker, western duiker, red river hog, red-flanked duiker, harnessed bushbuck and a Lelwel hartebeest.
The second, more serious incident occurred at a safari camp belonging to Andre Roux of Andre Roux Big Game Hunting in South Africa. Seems two armed men simply walked into camp, apparently hoping to commit a robbery. One was armed with a shotgun and the other with an AK 47. There are conflicting accounts of how many rounds were fired but the fact that one or both of the South African hunting clients in camp fired shots at the robbers is not in dispute.
Contacted in South Africa, Roux says only two shots were fired. Another source, who asked to remain anonymous, says far more shots were fired, perhaps as many as two clips full of .270 and .375. That same source says the attack was the second to occur at that same camp in the last 12 months. Roux denies that a second attack ever occurred. He calls the robbery attempt an isolated incident that probably won't happen again because the robbers were not expecting return fire and experienced the fright of their lives.
