Kaiser is survived by his wife, Tania, and three daughters. In a telephone interview with Kaiser's head PH, Willie De Klerk, he told us he would be working with Kaiser's widow to conduct all safaris on contract this season and for 2008. He said he had been with Unico Hunting Safaris since its inception and that Tania Kaiser intends to continue its operation in the future. He was in the process of contacting clients when we spoke with him. Previous clients and friends who would like to send their condolences may do so by e-mail.
Still in Botswana, but on a much brighter note, subscriber William V. Baumgartner reports taking a 90-plus-pound jumbo. He was hunting with PH Ian Gloss of The African Safari Company, which was under contract at the time with Greg Butler Safaris to hunt the Kwai Concession.
Baumgartner says this was his first time hunting elephant, although he has hunted Africa numerous times. He killed his jumbo on the sixth day of his hunt after turning down a 70-pounder the day before. He says they followed a number of elephants they never actually saw and that the day he killed his trophy, he and his PH had looked over 20 other bulls.
