As for other game in Tanzania Wildlife Company concessions, Martin says they found good numbers and quality of buffalo, hippo, crocs and large and small antelope in all five hunting areas. She reports that buffalo for their Selous block averaged 37½ inches with several exceeding the 40-inch mark, including subscriber Tom Bulloch's 42-inch buff. In other concessions, clients took several buffalo over 40 inches, including a 45-incher taken by Diana Rupp and a 46-incher taken by subscriber Gibb Lewis. In 2007, Martin says Tanzania Wildlife will also take at least one elephant in their Selous areas, where staff report seeing acceptable jumbo.
Martin also pointed out an error in the list of concessions we said had remained under the control of Usangu Safaris, TAWICO's former sister company. Turns out three of those concessions, Lake Natron South Game Controlled Area, Selous (Blocks MA1, LU4 and U3) and Rungwa Ikili Game Reserve are among the concessions that went to Tanzania Wildlife Company. We confirmed that with Usangu's US representative, Bill Fronterhouse (bill@usangu.com), who told us Usangu had not updated its marketing materials and web site to reflect the change but expected to have all the corrections made by the end of December.........(continued)
