The transaction will include only Canada North's Arctic hunts in which the company is the outfitter or an outfitter partner. Operations that Canada North worked with as a booking agent are not part of the deal. Neither is Knap's other company, Global Expeditions, which books hunts in Europe, Africa and other parts of the world.
Knap tells us he is selling simply because he is making his plans for eventual retirement. He says there are trips he would like to do himself while he is still reasonably fit and in good health. I would like to go hunt Ethiopia and fish for peacock bass in Brazil, he says. But that's the time of year we are running hunts for muskox, polar bear and other Arctic species that require my attention. Canada North will be present at the Safari Club convention in Reno this month, and will have a booth in conjunction with Shoshone Wilderness Adventures.
We also checked in with John Andre, who said Canada North's operations are a natural fit with his own and will expand his menu of Arctic hunts, which already include central Canada barren ground caribou hunts outfitted through his Courageous Lake Company. Andre has expanded his outfitting operations in the Northwest Territories recently to black bear, elk and whitetail camps in northern Saskat- chewan; whitetails in Nebraska; and mule deer and antelope in Montana. He also continues to book hunts for elk in New Mexico, Montana and British Columbia, as well sheep hunts, brown bear/grizzly hunts, moose and more.
Andre has also started........(continued)
