Congratulations are in order for Hunting Report subscriber Robert Speegle, recipient of the 2007 Conklin Award to be presented in Tunica, Mississippi at the Grand Slam Club/Ovis convention in February 2007. Speegle has an amazing hunting record. He has harvested every species available in North America with a rifle and needs only to take a Stone sheep to complete the same accomplishment with a bow. At the age of 80, he took a grizzly bear and a wolf this year with his bow and is booked to bowhunt Stone sheep in 2007. Speegle has also taken the Big Five, as well as numerous other African species. Additionally, he has pursued wild sheep and goats on mountain ranges throughout the world, completing the Ovis World Slam with more than 25 species of sheep and the Capra World Slam with more than 23 goat species.
In addition to his hunting record, Speegle is recognized for his conservation record, providing leadership, supporting scientific research initiatives and extending himself philanthropically. For information about attending the 6th Annual Conklin Award presentation.
