If the CTA decides in favor of Air Canada, we intend to call for a continued boycott of the airline until it lifts the fee. As we've said in the past, we do not oppose a nominal fee imposed on sportsman to ensure proper handling and safe delivery of their firearms, but $50 each way is exorbitant in our view. Also, with the service some subscribers have recently reported (see Airline Comments column on page 17), we have doubts whether Air Canada's service would warrant a special handling charge. Air Canada's reasons, by the way, for charging $50 is that it costs them $52 per passenger to man a service counter, have passengers fill out special forms, affix stickers to their bags and x-ray and load and unload the firearms separately. Stay tuned for developments.
