Seems Mueller lost his hunting concession this past January and has cancelled all his hunts. We understand some clients received letters informing them of the cancellation without providing any information on refunds. Mueller's web site and phone numbers are no longer in service. E-mails sent to him have been returned as undeliverable. One agent we know of has lost over $7,000 in deposits, and we have been told that at least three other parties who sent Mueller money have been left holding the bag.
Drown has already collected several complaints and is referring the issue to an attorney in British Columbia who will represent bilked clients in an effort to get them refunds. "This is a relatively rare occurrence in British Columbia," says Drown, who told us that Mueller became a member of the GOABC when he first acquired his hunting concession in 2004 then fell off the organization's rolls when he lost his hunting area. Drown went on to say that if a problem like this occurs with an outfitter member, the GOABC has considerable influence in helping to resolve the issue. "When the outfitter is not a member, it is more of a challenge but just as much a concern to us," he says. "This is the kind of thing we have no tolerance for."
