We told you about all this in the January 2006 issue (see "Special Controversy: Nunami Outfitters"). Well, the latest news is, the company that owns Nunami Outfitters (Makivik) is in the process of selling it to a Cree Indian group from Hudson Bay. Once the sale is complete, we are told, Makivik will pay off its debts, including funds owed to former employees, suppliers, the government and clients whose hunts were cancelled. We have all that from a woman by the name of Louise Borcé, who is handling the sale of Nunami Outfitters. She said hunters who are owed money by Nunami Outfitters should contact Helene Orlando, who is handling Nunami's debts at Makivik Corporation. We hope hunters who contact Orlando will let us know how things turn out.
