We again contacted the investigators into this matter, David Purkiss (David.Purkiss@lemeridien. com) and Max Huftier (max.huftier @starwoodhotels.com), and we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't tell you they suspect that the common denominator in the fraud is not Le Meridien Hotel, but a safari operator in Cameroon or a US agent who is booking Cameroon safaris. We are not sure what to make of that accusation, but we will tell you they urgently want all safari clients who have had fraudulent charges made against their cards to notify them of the name of the company they hunted with and the US agent who booked their safaris.
In the meantime, we repeat our previous advice. Do not use your credit card at the Meridien Hotel in Douala until this problem has been solved. Pay cash. Or stay elsewhere. One subscriber who has stayed there recommends the Ibis Hotel. We pass that along with the caveat that we do not have personal knowledge of this hotel.
