Update On BotswanaPublished: February - 2006 Still on the subject of elephant, one of the remarkable sights at SCI was the collection of photos of the ivory taken this past year by Tanzania clients of Gerard and Eric Pasanisi of Tanganyika Wildlife Safaris. In all, clients took 29 jumbo. The largest weighed 86 pounds, which is respectable enough in terms of weight. What's lost in describing the ivory that way is the magnificent size and sweep of the tusks. The long, slender ivory (some of it measuring seven feet) is just magnificent to behold. The Pasanisis take all of their jumbo in the Selous Reserve under extreme fair chase conditions.
