In the meantime, there are a couple of things related to my accident last year that are worth mentioning. First, I have largely recovered from the 35-foot fall that broke four vertebrae in the lumbar region of my back, cracked a couple of ribs, fractured my pelvis and left one finger permanently a little crooked. I look forward to seeing all of you at the various conventions this winter.
Second, it hasn't been reported at all, but Dougie was injured in the accident, too. On his return to France, he learned that he had literally broken his neck and was in imminent danger of quadriplegia or even death. Undaunted (and tougher than I am), Dougie rallied quickly and went on to Tanzania to conduct hunts as usual this year. You'll see him, for sure, at the conventions, fit as a fiddle. Guess you can't kill old hunters who keep at it.
