Another Noteworthy JumboPublished: September - 2005 Another noteworthy jumbo is the 81 x 64-pounder taken by Leslie Neal, daughter of booking agent Jeff Neal, in Botswana, with Johan Calitz Safaris, PH Garth Robinson. We have uploaded a photo of this jumbo to our web site as well.
As for Botswana jumbo in general, at press time, Debbie Peake of The Botswana Wildlife Management Association said 96 elephants had been taken as of August 22. A whopping 77 percent of those elephants weighed in excess of 100 pounds total weight (e.g., 50 pounds a side), she said. No word was available yet on particularly big ivory, other than the Neal ivory mentioned above. ........(continued) |
