Fortunately, I discovered Diana Hunts, Ltd. not so long ago. The company is based in Budapest. Owner Agnes Simonides speaks English and has experience organizing hunts for foreigners. Diana specializes in full-service tours, organizing everything from hotels and side tours to spa visits but at the core is their hunting organization. My first hunt with them was a personal trip for mouflon this past January. I was so impressed with them that I later booked a corporate hunt for roe deer just a few months later at the end of April. That's when I discovered just how service-oriented Diana Hunts really is.
Diana does more than simply book hunts with an outfitter. Simonides has actually contracted with private landowners in some hunting areas to acquire exclusive access to their lands. While my first hunt for mouflon was on government lands with the Forest Service, my second hunt, for roe deer, was on private property with contracted guides. I was bringing two corporate guests with me, and I needed things to go smoothly. The day before I was to depart for the trip, Diana called me to inform me that they were changing our hunt area. The change would require about a 1½-hour drive from the lodge where we were staying. I was a bit annoyed about that, but then I learned why they wanted to move us. We were hunting the second week of the season, and based on the success seen that first week in the area we were originally scheduled to hunt, Simonides decided my group should be moved to more productive concessions. That decision paid off.
