Told about the new US Senate and House bills that would allow states to discriminate against nonresidents without fear of judicial review (See item elsewhere in this section for more details), every outfitter I spoke with expressed great concern. Our officials look to the US for guidance in things like this, one outfitter noted. This could mean the eventual end of outfitted hunting in British Columbia. Another said the US bills were being introduced at just the wrong time in the midst of ongoing discussions about how to allocate resident and nonresident hunting privileges over the long term. The hunting community better wake up to this issue fast," that same outfitter said.
