Up in Democratic Republic of Congo, it appears that George Angelides' company, Congo Safaris Adventures, is going to have some competition in the opening of this central African nation. Seems Felix Barrado of NSOK Safaris in Cameroon has moved into the country in a big way.
Both Barrado and Angelides have focused on the Bili Uere area, in the far north of the country near the Sudan/CAR border. This is the same area that was opened briefly more than a decade ago by Bert Klineburger, Robin Hurt and others. The area indeed had good game populations back then, and prospects were good for continuing safari operations until the area was closed by presidential decree.
Barrado did not indicate whether he had clients booked into Bili Uere this winter, but we do know Hunting Report subscriber Charlie Rothe will be going there with Angelides. We will be providing Rothe a satellite phone to take along on his trip, and he has promised to keep us up to date on what he sees and hears. So, stay tuned.
