You can sign up for the company's new magazine free by going to the company's web site, www. dakotaarms.com. You can also read an article there about the interesting synergies created between Dakota and the two small gun companies they bought. There are some intriguing ideas afoot at Dakota about the use of competitive-shooting-rifle technology in top-of-the-line hunting rifles.
The booking agency Dakota has joint-ventured with is run by John Barth, whose name has appeared in these pages before. His partner is Jeff Sellers, who previously ran the hunting division of Dunn's Catalog, Dunn's Adventure Travel, in Grand Junction, Tennessee. Together, they offer hunts throughout the world, with a special emphasis on Africa. The joint venture with Dakota, Barth told The Hunting Report, is going to establish the agency as a one-stop, full-service safari outfitter offering help with everything from bullets to boarding passes.
"We don't book every outfitter who comes along, and we don't ever plan to do that," Barth said. "We like to find one or two outfitters in a country, or a region, and form a long-term relationship with them. It's important that they be the best of the best, and then stay that way."
