Subscribers Max and Victor Solis (who are native Chileans) recently wrote us about Isla Fresia Hunting Lodge. They say they like the place for the bowhunting opportunities it offers. Victor Solis writes:
"My brother and I arrived at Isla Fresia this past July at 9 am to be treated to a big breakfast before heading out to hunt. Within a few hours, we had two gold medal fallow bucks within 35 yards of us. We passed on them because we were hunting for something smaller and less expensive. That afternoon, we hunted near a meadow where the deer were expected to come to feed. At least 50 of them did eventually come into the meadow, along with some mouflon rams and red deer. Some of the mouflons were really good trophy animals. We could not get a shot at the fallow, so we returned to the lodge for cocktails, followed by an exquisite dinner of mouflon with fresh, home-grown vegetables, native Chilean wines and homemade German desserts.
"The next day found us waiting in ground blinds at 6:30 am off an open field. There were numerous game trails leading in and out of the field, and soon a group of red deer hinds with yearlings showed up, followed by six mouflons. A half hour later, seven fallow bucks arrived.
